„Marvel’s Inhumans“ sind die dunkelsten Schafe des MCU und werden wahrscheinlich nie wieder in einem „Avengers“-Film oder einer „Avengers“-Serie erwähnt. Doch als Mitglied des MCU hat FILMSTARTS-Redakteur Björn Becher die Serie inzwischen gesehen.

Als einleitender Zweiteiler „Marvels InhumansDa am 31. August 2017 das große IMAX-Kinoevent in Deutschland stattfand, hatte ich bereits vor dem zweiten Termin geplant, die Vorführung zu besuchen. Danach ging die Serie, die offiziell zum MCU gehört, in Deutschland für längere Zeit aus der Luft – und ich bemerkte (mit einiger Faszination), wie viel Spott und Spott in den USA über die Marvel-Produktion strömte.
Als „Inhumans“ mehr als ein Jahr später ab Mitte November 2018 endlich in Deutschland über VoD-Anbieter verfügbar war, war mein Interesse bereits verflogen – und es standen viel mehr andere Inhalte im Mittelpunkt meines Interesses, für die ich nicht bereit war Gib dafür 20 € aus.
Es ist jetzt mit Disney+ leicht zugänglich
Aber nun ist Disney+ seit Ende März 2020 in Deutschland verfügbar – und da ich nur ein MCU-Komplettist bin, der irgendwie alles aus diesem Universum sehen muss, habe ich mich entschieden (nachdem ich angefangen habe, „wichtigere“ Dinge wie „Wasserspeier„-Rewatch Pending) ist nun „Humans“ gewidmet. Und was soll ich sagen: Die Serie ist wirklich eine Katastrophe, wie die amerikanischen Kommentare vermuten ließen.
Doch bevor ich euch erkläre, warum es für mich die schlechteste MCU-Produktion ist, möchte ich euch die wohl am wenigsten bekannte MCU-Serie in Deutschland zeigen (neben sich selbst)" als "Flüchtlinge„in diesem Land, zumindest für ein bestimmtes Publikum).
Das ist „Unmenschen“.
Die Inhumans sind genetisch mutierte Übermenschen, die vor Jahrhunderten von der Erde verschwunden sind und seitdem versteckt auf dem Mond in der Stadt Attilan leben. Dort herrscht der schwarze Blitzkönig (Mount Anson) eine streng regulierte Kastengesellschaft – aber ohne Sprache. Denn seine Stimme ist so laut, dass selbst ein Flüstern alle um ihn herum töten würde und ganze Städte zerstören könnte.
Aber wenn sein Bruder Maximus (Game of Thrones) ein Tyrann istIvan Rheon) in einem Staatsstreich die Macht ergreift, gelingt Black Bolt in letzter Sekunde die Flucht mit seiner Familie auf die Erde – genauer gesagt nach Hawaii. Dort unterrichtet er Königin Medusa (Serida Swann), Cousin von Karnak (Ken Lungen) und Too Much for the Humans, verfolgen Maximus‘ Mörder und schmieden einen Plan, um ihr Königreich zurückzuerobern …
An sich ist die Prämisse von „Inhumans“ recht interessant, schon allein deshalb, weil man die klassischen Gut-Böse-Muster durchbrechen kann.In Attilan durchläuft jeder, der erwachsen wird, einen Transformationsprozess, der seine Superkräfte offenbart. Danach wird entschieden, wo Sie in Zukunft eingesetzt werden, obwohl dieser Prozess nicht ganz fair ist. Denn es ist unwahrscheinlich, dass Mitglieder der königlichen Familie am Ende hart in den Minen arbeiten werden ...
Maximus, der (eine der vielen Änderungen in den Comics) im Transformationsprozess eine „Supermacht“ erlangte, sein Inhuman-Gen verlor und nun ein normaler Mensch ist, möchte das System ändern – oder so scheint es (er wurde früh gemacht). dass er sich eigentlich nur um sich selbst kümmert). Da die königliche Familie sich der Probleme ihrer Untertanen scheinbar nicht bewusst ist, ist die Bühne dafür bereitet, den mutmaßlichen Bösewicht in die Schranken zu weisen.
Für Grautöne ist kein Platz
Aber es zahlt sich nie aus. Maximus ist ein sehr streitlustiger Mann, der manipuliert, lügt und tötet. Die königliche Familie mag hartnäckig sein, aber es wird schnell klar, dass das Kennenlernen der Menschen zu einem Verhörprozess führen wird, der zumindest einige von ihnen dazu bringen wird, ihre Fehler zu erkennen. Eine verpasste Chance...
Aber natürlich ist es immer leicht, einen Film oder eine Serie für etwas zu kritisieren, was sie nicht sind. Abschließend kann man auch sagen: Na? Nach „Inhuman“ mangelt es einfach an Komplexität und moralischer Infrastruktur, es gibt nur andere Beispiele aus dem MCU, bei denen das nicht anders ist.
Eigentlich bin ich ein ziemlich starker Befürworter davon, bei dem zu bleiben, was ist, und nicht bei dem, was hätte sein können (obwohl das hier aufgrund der offenbar auch verwendeten Ansätze offensichtlich ist). Aber „Inhumans“ hat nicht viel – zumindest nicht sehr gut …
Schon im Prolog ist die Mischung aus Dramatik mit grandiosen Gesten und Shakespeare-Anleihen und billigem Humor mit lächerlichen Kostümen so inkonsistent, dass es mitunter so wirkt, als würde man zwei verschiedene Serien sehen. Die Action dort liegt mitunter auf einem ordentlichen Niveau, bleibt aber nie im Gedächtnis hängen – obwohl einem immer wieder gesagt wird, was für tolle Kämpfer man hier sieht, und vor allem die Fähigkeiten der Charaktere rechtfertigen dies. Aber abgesehen von Karnak, der seine Schritte genau zählt, kommt dieser so gut wie nie zum Einsatz (und erklingt bei ihm mit der Zeit).
Behauptung ist übrigens ein gutes Stichwort, denn fast alles in dieser Serie funktioniert über Behauptung – nicht nur die vermeintlich großen Kampfkünste, sondern das gesamte Drama (dazu gleich mehr).Darüber hinaus gibt es langweilige Dialogzeilen, in denen die Charaktere das Offensichtliche zusammenfassen oder unnötige Erklärungen und Insider-Punkte erläutern(Während interessante Dinge schwer zu erklären sind). Charaktere bekommen nie Profile, auch wenn es ohnehin jede Menge Probleme mit ihnen gibt.
Der langweiligste MCU-Held aller Zeiten
Mit nur acht Episoden mit zu vielen unnötigen Nebencharakteren (es gibt mindestens einen anderen Menschen auf der Erde, der mit jedem Inhuman interagiert) ist die Serie überfüllt, eine echte Hauptcharakterentwicklung findet nur in Ausnahmefällen statt. Insbesondere der Anführer Black Bolt ist so ziemlich der langweiligste MCU-Held, den Sie je gesehen haben.
Die Tragödie eines Mannes, der seine Eltern durch eine rücksichtslose Aussage tötete, wird verbal und mit Rückblenden auf diesen Moment (Stichwort: Ankläger) flächendeckend ausgebreitet, hat aber wiederum keinerlei emotionale Wirkung.Und Schauspieler Anson Mount („Star Trek: Discovery“) ist von den Fähigkeiten seiner Figur sprachlos, doch warum er seine Mimik so sparsam und nur für trotzige Gesichtsausdrücke einsetzt, wird nicht erklärt.
Wenn Konflikte entstehen, funktionieren sie fast immer nicht. Königin Medusas Superkraft ist ihr wallendes rotes Haar, mit dem sie beispielsweise Feinde in die Luft schleudern kann. Also rasiert sich Maximus den Schädel – eine lebensverändernde Erfahrung, die man wirklich genießen kann.
Da aber bis dahin und auch danach niemand die Verbindung Medusas zu ihren Haaren erleben konnte, gipfelt das Drama in nur wenigen Tränen, Worten und wiederholten, unglaublichen Streicheleinheiten auf den Kopf.Es schleicht sich der Verdacht ein, dass es den Machern überhaupt nicht um dramatische Effekte geht, sondern um pure Einsparungen.
Zu viel gespart
Es war sicherlich nicht billig, Medusas Superhaar zu animieren. Also muss er gehen, ebenso wie der Riesenhund Lockjaw, der eigentlich das Zeug zum MCU-Fanliebling hat, hier aber nur durch seine Teleportationsfähigkeit nützlich ist.
Da die Animation auch für ihn teuer war, verlässt er den Raum meist sofort oder wird während der Serie zweimal für längere Zeit aus der Geschichte genommen – einmal kurzzeitig betäubt und an einem Ort schlafend, einmal verletzt und an einem anderen Ort schlafend .
Solche Zerstörung mit der Botschaft „Unmenschlich“.– nicht nur für mich jetzt, da ich zweieinhalb Jahre zu spät zuschaue und die Reaktion von Fans und Kritikern auf Disney+ kenne, sondern für Marvel selbst. Dort startete „Inhumans“ einst als Filmprojekt, bevor Kevin Feige es in die TV-Abteilung drängte, wo es den Leuten unter den damals noch laufenden hervorragenden Netflix-Produktionen scheinbar egal war.
Dies zeigt sich unter anderem an der Wahl des Regisseurs für die Pilotfolgen, bei denen dieses Werk einen besonders hohen Stellenwert einnimmt. Denn der Regisseur des Pilotfilms gibt in der Regel den stilistischen Ton der Serie vor. Große Namen oder Spezialisten kommen oft hierher, Marvel vertraute dem Niederländer Roel Reiné, der vor allem für die schnellen und günstigen Direct-to-DVD-Fortsetzungen bekannt ist: „Marine 2“, „Death Race 2 & 3“, „Twelve Rounds 2“ und „The „Scorpion King 3“ sind einige Auszüge aus seiner Filmografie.
Daher ist es nicht verwunderlich, dass der Regisseur selbst bereits vor Beginn von „Inhuman“ auf die Frage, warum Marvel ihn mitgebracht habe, antwortete, dass der Comic-Riese ihn wollte, weil er etwas Zeit und Geld für seine Actionfilme brauchte. Marvel ging also schnell und günstig – und das fasst Inhumans ziemlich gut zusammen.
„Inhumans“ und das MCU
Ich glaube übrigens nicht, dass die Ereignisse von „Inhumans“ jemals eine Rolle im MCU spielen werden (obwohl das Finale eigentlich eine Rolle spielen sollte), aber Marvel-Chef Kevin Feige wird sich komplett mit einem Mantel des Schweigens bedecken. Von Streiks, die außerhalb seiner Kontrolle liegen, hält er sowieso nicht viel.
Mittlerweile ist er auch für das Universum der Serie verantwortlich und stellt sich vielleicht mit großer Hoffnung vor, dass er eines Tages einzelne Charaktere „mitbringen“ wird (sofern die Rechtslage, die wohl teilweise – vor allem bei Netflix – nicht besonders einfach ist, stimmt). - erlaubt) und dann vielleicht die Serie - Sie „erkennt“ die Ereignisse an und sammelt sie im MCU-Universum, aber das wird bei „Inhumans“ nicht passieren.
Obwohl das bereits in „Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.“ vorhandene Inhuman-Thema, das in dieser Serie auch kurz erwähnt wird, irgendwann ins MCU zurückkehren wird, wird das Abenteuer von Black Bolt und Co. auf Hawaii sicherlich keine Rolle spielen.
